Description
Piled carpet with a wine-red centerfield and a dark blue border. The main filed is covered with forest animals running around in various naturalistic directions superimposed on a network of stems of scrolling vines that curve and intertwine, with branches and stems that carry a variety of flowers and palmettes. Leaping tigers and rabbits; running cows, onagers and deer; lions in combat with bears, cheetahs catching gazelles, winged lions attacking antelopes; and cockerels and parrots. The border design is made up of a row of large multi-coloured palmettes of various designs. Part of the Burrell Collection
